Why do we bother?

  Why do we bother?

Got up this morning and some lowlife has been up my driveway and theived the snorkel/air intake from my 130. Its just 12months since they decided to take the winch and sidebars off.  I just feel so sick of trying,  i may as well leave the keys in and prop the doors open.
What a lovely country this really is.

Gaz... sorry to hear about the theft. I try to have faith in the human race, but I'm tested far too often. I still believe that the vast majority of people are decent, honest and hard working. Unfortunately, there will always be a minority who can't be bothered to earn money the same way as the rest of us.

disco2 td5..... Nice to hear the scumbags get caught sometimes.

The scene of crime officer :police: came to have a look round my truck as the snorkel thief  had been stupid enough to leave his fingerprints on the side mirror when he moved it out the way
Lets hope they are already on file, he left nearly a full hand print on the windscreen as well .

"how much for the criminal this country is" sums it up in one. What really peaves me is that if we defend what is ours we're more likely to be prosecuted than the little [!Expletive Deleted!] doing the stealing.
Someone i know had pulled over to send a text. Mid way through the text little arse lent in through his window took his wallet and ran off. Lad drove his car down the road jumped out with a wheel brace and bonked said scrote on the head and got his wheel back. Result.
I hope that the police come back with something for you.
Best of luck

John

There is actually plenty of protection within law for people acting in self defence. So if you hear a noise at night and go downstairs having picked up a large spanner on the way, then chase the scrotes out of your house waving said spanner and bellowing at them then you're fine. Any reasonable person would fear for their safety if confronted with an intruder. The same goes for using reasonable force to make a citizen's arrest if you catch them in the act of attempting to steal your property.

What you are not allowed to do is chase them down the street and beat them to a pulp, or shoot them in the back while they're running away. Self defence only applies until they no longer pose an immediate threat to you.

The sentences handed out are a different matter entirely, suffice to say that I find it astonishing how shoplifting is often less expensive than straying over the speed limit by a few mph!
