It sounds nice and looks nice too.....but its just like taking a short wheelbase landy offroad with a trailer on(well thats what the gallery looks like)
Might just be my thinking but i think its pointless, it has six wheels whereas a land rover has four, which means it will be longer, it might be more agile thatn a 110 but not a 90.
It has all wheel drive, the six wheels all at once, land rovers also have all wheel drive....so there really isnt much difference apart from a twisty bit which might mean that you would win a twist off but other than that its completely useless in my eyes =)

look at it from another angle, it has 6 wheels on the floor at all times providing more traction than a landrover, it has a turning circle of 5.5m which is good for a 6 wheeler and probibly not far off a 110 especially as it has a 156" (front to back, 2x 78" wheelbases) it will spread the weight more than a landrover, if your talking offroad and brake over angles it will beat the 90 as it has a 78" wheelbase which will go over what ever and then the second 78" wheelbase will "kick in" i dont think it articulates in the middle like you think, it goes left and righta and up and down not sure it ocelates so no good on a twist off
from an engineering point of view it pisses all over the landrover with out being over complicated.

it would also annoy my naborgh too  :D

I wonder if they have overcome the problem found with both the Gamma Goat and Land Rovers powered 101 trailer of the trailer pushing the tractor unit into a roll over in certain off road conditions.

If you can't get there in a Land Rover you can't get there

I wonder how long it'll be before the MoD uses them as i think the power assisted articulation would come in handy and to be honest something like that would really put the wind up some of the American rock crawling teams :P
If at first you don't succeed, try, try, then reverse over it...

Of course it`ll just be the disco for now seeing as we leave on friday!

I was just wondering the exact same thing. IIRC it affected the 109-based powered trailer prototypes too?

I suppose that you could do something clever with a tilt switch so it cuts off power to the trailer if the drawbar reaches a certain angle of yaw and the vehicle angle goes beyond safe limits.

I suspect that because it is driven differently to those in the past, ie hydraulically, might make a big difference.
How do the 4x4 centre steer diggers and dumpers cope?

it looks like it uses the same trailer stabilty and steering system found on BV206.
Wondering if the trailler follows the vehicles tracks or has a different route when cornering???

With computer technology today, I'm sure the trailer 'pushing' issue is very easy to avoid. It's basically the same as computer controlled 4wd systems where they control drive to the back to balance a car rather than oversteering it. We were doing this at prototype level in the late eighties at Lotus with the Active programme.

looking at the diagrams, i would say thet the rear most set of wheels will not follow the fronts, in fact they will all follow differing lines when traveling round a corner because although it is articulated, it will be front wheel steer or maybe even 4 wheel steer but as the rear axle does not help with the steering, it is like a powered trailer.
