Don't put a 3.00 in they are absolutely pooh and will no doubt blow up on  you !!

Think the 3.1 might fit but not sure.

3.1 and 2.8 are the same block and ancilaries (spelling) so near enough all external parts are interchangable.

And yes the tubos are interchangable  :D

Get the VICC turbo off a mk3 (3.1 trooper - 96 onwards) rather than the VIAN one off the 2.8 or the early 3.1, it's a higher output and more relaiable turbo.

You may need to rotate the inlet housing 90 degrees (ring of 6mm bolts iirc), which is very easy to do.  If your wanting more boost, find a scraped 2.8 frontera, and pull the front mounted intercooler off it. It will fit into a trooper and give a lot more cooling on the air. Also remember to change your on boost fueling to match the change in turbo / intercooler else you'll gain no benefit.

It's the vaccum pipe from the turbo which opens up the on boost fulling. IIRC there's a square plate on the fuel pump held on with 4 screws, take that cover off and rotate the diafram in there or shim it to get more on boost fuelling.

Just opening up the fuelling screw will mean gain in fuelling over all - it'll work but it's not the correct way to do it (black smoke off boost).

Have a wonder over to muddyfrontera.co.uk (shameless plug) or itocuk.co.uk for more inforamtion on this.
