Removing doughnut 300 TDI
« on: July 23, 2010, 20:33:03 »
Hi, I can see that the rear doughnut is starting to split. I have heard off a few people in the past, that i can replace it with a 200 prop. I am just trying to find out what i exactly need.

Regards

Alrite Matt,

You need an STC4858 flange kit and a prop off a 200 disco.

See here for how to do it.

If you fit a new doughnut then replace the spigot bush too.

My LSE runs fine with the doughnut, but TBH I can't see the point of it.  Our TDi has already been swapped and finger's crossed is fine.

For higher prop angles I'd fit the 200 prop.

I think the 61mm flange kit is STC4858 IIRC, If you use a std length 41mm 200 flange you need a 12mm spacer which Ashcroft transmissions sell for around

Im also looking at doing this as my coupling has failed on me.... not much fun driving home. Will any adjustments need to be made REF- preloads if the flanges are changed?

My wife can't wrestle but you should see her box.

nah, preloads are 'inside' the diff, changing the flange is outside the diff
