Have you checked the wiring around the transfer box?

aslog as ur diff lock engages thers nothing to wory about. There is a conector ontop of the t box and its not the best it gets bombarded with crud and water. Probly just needs a clean or the wire has come of. The switch itself is like a bolt that you bolt in with 2 conectors on the end shud be cheap of ebay and replaced easy through the center console

ive had a little look at the wiring and the plug and all seems fne, i'll prob disconnect it and give it a clean. also ive looked on ebay and they only seem to list one for an lt77 ( whatever that is) Is that the right one or has anyone got a link for the switch i need. Sorry for being a thicko but these landrovers are all new to me so still learning.

Cheers Glen

The switch is on the transfer box right on top in a pig location. Difflock is often not used on disco's so usually the difflock itself is crudded up and wont engage. But the switch can also stick. Bare in mind difflock light usually doesn't come on when static, so engage difflock and drive for a bit (off road) and see if the lamp comes on, switch probe is working against its spring so hopefully dislodge in time seeing it no longer held back. This assumes the circuit is fine and the difflock is truly engaging.

Glen - the diff lock switch is on the transfer box not the main gear box, the transfer box is a ref LT230 unit, your main gearbox will be an R380 (crunchy 1st to 2nd gear change!).

If you search for 'LT230 diff lock switch' on ebay you should get a few more results, the part number is PRC2911.

Are you convinced diff lock is working and it is a duff switch/earth connection?
