Air con re-gassed but still not working
« on: August 10, 2010, 18:22:20 »
I had the air con re-gassed in my 1998 Grand Cherokee today.  It was empty of gas and is now full, but it still will not blow cold.

I read on-line about by-passing the low pressure switch.  Is this it (to the right of the photo)?

I tried to bypass that, and nothing happened, and the air con is still not blowing cold.

Any ideas please?

You've a leak in the system?

Where did you get it done?  Kwikfit shockingly are about the best place since they use fully automated machines and give a 10 degrees colder or no charge guarentee

That's where I went!  They said I didn't have a leak, and that they have now fully re-gassed it but because it still isn't working, no charge!

I swoped the reply for another of the same type, and it still not working. The fuse supplies many other systems, so I would know if it had gone.

Thanks for the suggestions though.

Try running a wire directly from the battery to the feed on the top of the air con pump to engage the clutch... might be worth a shot?  Would indicate roughly where the problem was.

says alot for the kwick fit service..... we only can recharge a system as we have a machine that does it all, BUT we know nothing about diagnosing where a problem is as the machine doesn't do that
