Main Dealer servicing!!
« on: April 25, 2005, 18:07:31 »
110 Defender 12,000 miles services, anybody care to guess the price. (i'm not paying otherwise it wouldn't have gone there) I'll tell you when I've grabbed something to eat.

Also someone with a parts book can you tell me what a LERR6299 is?

On the Service I have also been charged for Cleaner, Lubricant (not oil that's seperate), Diesel Fuel Treatment (Not bad seen as the tank is on vapours) and Screenwash.

I used to have the offical LR Service sheet for the P38A when I had it, anybody know where I can get one for the Defender TD5, so that I can do it myself in future??

Oh and the Radio No Longer switches it's self off with the ignition, and the steering wheel is nolonger staight but I'm sure they'll fix these when it goes back to have the the front propshaft replaced (not in stock at the main dealer)

I let you manke your own mind up about what I think of main dealer servicng :(

I also complained the door seals let mud in :D

Apparently they all do that :(

Think I'll have to go round with the Silly Cone then pop rivet them shut, and climb in Dukes of Hazzard style. Only thing is it's a hell of a drop out of a Lifted 110

13.58+VAT but I was curious as to what it was as it just said "Rotor" and I thought diesels didn't have rotors.

Strange thing is I asked them not to change the Air Filter (got a K&N) and they haven't. The Air Filter isn't mentioned on the bill but yet the service price is exactly what's marked up on the wall.

It appears the Main Dealers are cheaper than most of you think then!! £305.57 all inc!! I've bought Land Rovers for less than that in the past  :D

Are these the ones that have the list of jobs\items down the side, and then the service interval along the top, so you can go down and tick what's done as you do it?? And Items not required at that service are greyed out?

I chickened out I gave it a quick once over with the pressure washer, but didn't put too much effort in, still got 2 buckets fulls of mud off the drive when I'd finished

When I picked it up, they said they'd washed it. There was still mud on the wheels, behind the snorkel, on the roof and grass hanging from the axles and steering guard. I finished the job myself, should have done it properly in the first place.

sounds like a quick service wash, wher i work does the same,a quick once over to make it shine for the customer when they come back to get it,even the farmers motors get it although having to do it 2 times is a pain,

Sounds about right, anybody that washes there own motor knows exactly where the fiddly bits are, and where to look to see if it was done right. I'd have been more impressed if they'd got the muddy lake out the back passenger carpets
