Will the engine and box come out in one lump?
« on: September 16, 2010, 11:00:36 »
As per the title really!  Is it possible to get the engine and box out together?  Im going to break up my 300tdi disco and wondered if I can get it out complete and split it on the deck, save mauling with top bell housing bolts etc.

I can cut the slam panel out first if that would make the difference?  Anyone ever tried?

Thanks,

Mike

Never tried it but I'd have thought with the slam panel and radiators removed there shouldn't be a problem as long as you can get the balance right.

Don't forget the gear lever though lol

Yes deffinately can come out in one, if you cut the front panel off it will make it so much easier.

Agreed, to break it you can take it out in one peice.  heavy though and the T-box is damned heavy swinging on the back end.

Another thought  :-k  if you can lift the engine & then roll the car back it will be even better than trying to manover a hoist with all that weight
