PROBLEM WITH LPG/PETROL CAN YOU HELP
« on: September 21, 2010, 17:21:59 »
Hello guys I've got a 4.2 v8 in a Defender 90 and this morning it wouldn't start, it got so flooded that petrol was leaking out of the headers where they join the 'Y' piece of the exhaust!!

I have now got it going by disconnecting the relay from the ECU for the fuel pump taking out the spark plugs and blowing out the cylinders with the compressor, it then took along time to fire up so I put the relay back in for a few seconds and it fired and started but while it was running on LPG I switched over to petrol and it cut out immediately.

Does anyone have any ideas what has happened? I've had the car for 6 months without a problem before, any help as ever will be greatly appreciated.

So it runs on LPG but floods on petrol.  I'd be suspecting an injector stuck open.

Thanks, it turns out that there was a hole in a petrol that was leaking badly thus not even reaching the injectors and the petrol leaking over and not coming from the exhaust.

Thanks for your help
Cheers
