Heading down the A11 dual carriageway on Sunday morning, I came across an Escort at the side of the road. It was stopped on a reasonably long straight, but still not ideal. So I pulled up, shoved the beacons on, pulled a hi-vis on and asked if he wanted towing to the next layby half a mile away. He was already on the phone to the police who suggested we waited for them to arrive. 10 minutes later the police car arrived and we towed him to the layby with a Police escort.....blue lights and all!
Both the police officer and the car owner expressed their thanks. The officer said it saved them a lot of time and trouble! Although they had to call out highways to sort out the oil slick that was left along the road. The car had a big hole in the side of the block with a con rod poking through :shock:
