300tdi running problem

I got a 300tdi cheap as no tax or test and the body work inner wings body mounts and so on are mint but the engine 8nt runing  right . I first thought it was the turbo as ther was no boost kicking in at all so I've swapped the turbo and it's still the same it starts ok runs on tickover fine dead smooth but it is gutless to drive :( and I've just noticed today when I rev it with the lever on the fuel pump so I can watch the engine it starts to splutter At what IDE say was 2700-4000 revs  any1 any ideas it smokes a bit of White smoke when revved hard . It's had belt done about 20 thousand ago and head gasket was done about a years ago previous owner told me   
Any1 any ideas ????

timimg stuffed up or fuel flow problem.  White stinky smoke is retarded timing.

check the timing's set spot on, if that sorts it then you can rule out a fuel flow problem  :lol: :lol: :lol:

Without sounding like a doofus is ther an easy way of checking the timing ? Or am I best asking sum1 who does timing and tbelts to check it?

You set it with pins into reference holes through the 3 pulleys, it's one of those if you need to ask questions though

Check the fuel lines on top of the tank, underneath the inspection cover in the boot floor.
They corrode\perish and allow air in - this can give your symptoms.
