Let's ne honest, they are b****y dangerous things if not used with care. I take the handle out of mine, partly for that reason and parlty to make it easier to store.
I worry about having a non-positive restrained handle because I wonder if it would get flung out in the event of auto jack down.... no I'm not planning on making a video of that !
The jack are useful no doubt. Mine has paid for itself many times over, especially with the series LR for self recovery combined with ladders/waffle when out alone.
But as we know like all jacks it must be respected, never trusted and the farm jack 'characteristics' need that little bit more experience and awareness.
I think they could get down right dangerous even in experienced hands when the operator is fatigued, it's raining and muddy... that handle can be a slippery begger. The jack likes to tip and cast the load (which can be exploited in recovery from ruts), if your lucky you will get to only forget just the once not to put head in the way of the arc if your unlucky RIP. Landrovers like to roll forward when jacked causing jack ladder to tip forward thru rear windows :D, jam up on spare wheels, gouge out rear door, smash front lamp clusters, cast the truck sideways thru neighbours fence (see video again
) , the mechanism doesn't work when gummed up with mud, the foot needs a spreader etc etc
