OK just got my insurance quote through and its gone up about

Or Frank Pickles. They only cover modified 4x4's. Not sure if your's is modified enough for them, but very competitive with cover for organised off road events included.

I am so dreading my next insurance premium, I know they gone up across board but mines now had a 2k claim settled against it (thx to mrs) so deep joy. Totally con insurance is, it's a gamble and they lost why should I have to pay more.

I haven't changed insurer in a while I have paid the same company monthly for my cars and so far the cost is still reasonable.
Way back then - life crawled out of the mud, then it decided life was better and crawled back in!

That is correct, but they will still insure club members. If you have problems, join up with muddyfrontera.co.uk  I stuck a deal with them a couple of years back, and as well as getting member discounts they have stated that they will keep on taking on new members who are with the 'muddies.

My insurance with FP is based on a club membership too. It seems it has to be a paid for club. Mud-Club wasn't good enough for them. Anyone can easily join a forum whereas you have to put more effort into joining a 'proper' club, if you pardon the expression.

My premium with them went from
