Hi all I am wanting to paint my rear quarter and sill protector plates black from bare aluminum. What if any special prep do I need or is it just grey primer and satin black?

A clean surface. i.e. at leasted rubbed down with wet and dry. Better sand blasted on the checker side (saves time!). Then etch primer, primer, topcoat/colour and laquer (if requred depending on paint type/colour).
