On the Llanberis route it would be an easy 4x4 drive.  In the 50's a team took a jeep up Ben Nevis, I would have liked to have seen that.

Been talking to a mate in the mountain rescue team here (Llanberis where I live) the mountain railway won't insure anyone to drive it down and they can't get it on a carriage/ trailer so it looks like a Chinook job...

though I have offered to drive it down for them , My mate Brian was the manager there before he retired and is looking into it for me..

But I have to agree the guy is a nob  ... I was hoping to take my disco up as a charity thing with the blessing of the mountain railway in aid of the mountain rescue and help for heros but that's now out the window...

I have a couple of mates who went up in the late 70's on trail bikes for charity they described it as epic...

He was a member on muddyfrontera's, well up to this morning. I've just banned him for this. Hardly something that's good to be associated with  :undecided:

to quote the bbc
Quote
On Monday he had said he hoped to be permitted to drive it back from where it got stuck, about 400 yards (365m) from the top,

before anyone else says it

At least if he'd driven a defender he'd have made it to the top  :lipsrsealed:

But he's in a Jap motor. He made it to the top and was on the way back down.

In a defender he would have made it to the top.

Then the half shaft would have snapped, the rear cross member fallen off, not been able to see because the windscreen would have steamed up, the battery would have fallen through the floor, the.... ;)

Whilst I agree that it was an optimistic thing picking snowdon I feel it could be an avenue to explore I.e. direct action. If we stopped being cowed by the the antis and tro every lane brigade we could shine a very bright light on the precurnious nerc act. Or we could continue to moan into our hands about loss of amenities and do nowt about it.

It's illegal!!

This isn't a bowing down to the anti's or not wanting to upset. This is a national park, the highest mountain in wales, a tourist attraction, a railway line which was driven up. The guy was a fing idiot and deserves to get his truck crushed and the book thrown at him.

I know snowdon is illegal, I was suggesting the principal be applied to lost lanes not land marks
