But most of the comparison sites won't allow for the modifications you might have. If you get through those sites to the actual insurer, many will refuse cover or increase the premium once they know all the mods. The comparison sites are only really useful for bog standard modern vehicles. And, as I'm sure you appreciate, it's not worth not declaring the mods. It leaves you uninsured in the event of a claim.

Have a look in any of the 4x4 mags most of the companys do a good deal dont go with A Flux if you have a cheapy as the ins will cost more than the truck is worth, try Sureterm direct they do laneing policys also if your truck is old it may be worth trying to get it on a classic deal with them ,ATB

Sureterm told me if I used it off road, it would invalidate the policy! I told them I didn't want off road cover, but that's not what they meant. They would not insure it
at all
if it ever went off road
I did ask them why they were advertising in 4x4 magazines that promoted off roading, but she didn't have an answer. I guess they are targeting the shiny owners who read LRO, LRM, etc.
I'm with Frank Pickles, but they are now being very selective over who they insure. Low annual mileage, club member, not too heavily modified, second vehicle only, etc.

subject that been flogged to death before..but as a reminder 'laning cover' just means that you have fully comprehensive cover once off a highway and onto a byway.... regardless of this 'laning cover' you will always be legally insured to the minimum (3rd party) no matter where you drive or how you drive, undeclared mods, drunk etc as long as your name and registration are on the insurance policy. "Nothing in this policy effects the right of a 3rd party to make a claim". They can't revoke that basic cover after the fact if you happen to have an incident, so you are legally covered to the minimum and not breaking law (i.e driving without insurance) but the insurance company themselves may try to claim back losses from you.

I managed ( or the mrs has
) to get the cost of renewal down to 330 with A.F and that's with increase of limited miles to 12k instead of 6k and also now added daily commute to policy with the job change. Happy enough with that.

I found out now that she got it for 300 BUT because she asked for things to be changed on the policy renewal it cost and extra 30 quid. That's a bit unfair I think. Okay fine if it was a change mid term but at the start of a renewal? They have to do paper work anyway for the mileage record etc and that admin fee is already included, this make it so they been paid twice.
