its going to take along time to get people back using this site, it was off the air for so long many people moved on, and have moved on permantly.

I think this site will be massive again, just takes a bit of time

Any club is what you make of it. I try to think of engaging topics to post to get peoples juices going as I think that is important.  I know a lot of people lurk on here now but we have to try to enter into open conversation and be inclusive.

I agree with the sentiments about having to put the time in to make the site great again. It was off air for a long time and people did move on but as long as we maintain a steady throughput of new topics it'll catch on again.

I've been so wrapped up in my new job over the past months that I've hardly driven my Discovery let alone found the time to contribute on here but my (somewhat early) New Years' resolution is to make the effort to log in every day.

PS: I've just posted a request for help in the Discvery forum and some for sale items too

I'd been away for a long time and I was glad to see it was still around, haven't seen many names that I recognise.

Afraid to say I didnt get any notification that the site was back up, I only realised the forum was back up when I was deleting stuff out of my fav's list and seeing which links worked and which ones didnt.

I must be honest and say that since MC went offline, I now spend more time on the Northants4x4.com website/ forum as it's local, more relevant to me and as a result I joined the N4x4 Response team.

I only come on here periodically as it's not locally relevant to me......

Just my humble opinion.

As has been said you get out of any club what you put in , we have lost something since the restart but i cant put my finger on what it is :undecided: but instead of looking back to what it was lets all look forward to what we want it to be like in the future, there is a big membership so lets get our thinking caps on and see what we come up with im confident that all will be good again as we have a good core of people in the backroom who dont forget get all this together unpaid in their own spare time when some of us are in the pub etc,  so come on people ideas, thoughts, etc,

I have been thinking about some of what has been said on this post and reading between the lines I think that if people are missing the sense of community then the need to post more. Relying on the likes of rrb, saffy and others to carry the place forward is not ideal as not everyone wants to hear their thoughts (i'm not saying stop to the regulars please keep it up) but everyone else needs to put in in a positive way even if you are being negative as that is the best way to keep this forum alive.

This is just my opinion please feel free to ignore as you see fit.

The site is slow on ppl returning and new threads, if an email was sent out i didnt get one either!!!

My biggest grumble is, the sites performance, it seems slower to me and i still cant get the slider at the side to work; which puts me off coming on as frequently as i did, as this spoils my viewing.

This is the only site i have been on where it does it, so cant see that the problem is my end, perhaps a Comp. guru might have some ideas???

Too much flash and not enough substance.

For example, I've book marked the forum page since the home page basically repeats what the 'todays posts' link does, but without any usability.

Email - never got one here either - Saffy dropped me a line to say that the forum was back up.

Slow - yup, very slow. But this has been raised as an issue, and some people say it works fine. Suppose it depends if you live in the middle of nowhere and 2mb is all you can get (all other forums except for benzworld run fine).

I still don't understand why the forum was taken down, and there also appears to be some strange comments like 'we can't afford a gallery'?!?  I also admin a forum, it costs about

Must admit 3-4 years ago this was the best forum out there for all sorts of reasons not least the classifieds but thinking back the offroad scene was peaking again and people had more cash available for their hobbies, but now there is less money around a lot of folk have had to sell their second vehicle and the price of fuel has rocketed along with everything else so the problem is not just the taking down of the site allthough it beats me why it was taken down also cant grasp the need for games etc when the web is flooded with them , it could be a classic case of (dont mess with it if it aint broken ),maybe Thrasher could enlighten us ? :blank: :blank:

That is a fair point really cos if it were not for the farm I wouldn't have mine, I'd be in a hot hatch again cos land rover ownership is costly.

It's on a 10mb link. I can't afford anything else. I'm sorry you guys, but I try

Emails went out, but sadly a lot of you have emails that bounced. I can't fix that. Some of you have emails I can't send to either - each day I get a bounced birthday or PM, but I can't fix that, because I don't know what your new email is.

Not meaning to sound despondant, but all I get is people moaning.

Please don't be despondent Thrasher.
I am really glad that the site is back up.
It was and Im sure soon will be, one of the best off road sites around.
I would be more than happy to make a donation to the upkeep of the site, as Im sure others would as well.
A pay-pal donation or whatever works.
The speed of the site doesn't really bother me, its faster (for me) than the LR4x4 site (and Im not knocking their site either!!)
