"traction failure" message on P38

Hello M/c'ers,

I've got a "traction failure" message on my P38.
I've looked through the owners manual and it just says......."as message suggests, seek expert advice"
I've searched the workshop manual and there is no info about messages.
The car is turning over but will not fire up.
It was O.K. the last time I used it two days ago.
Anyone got any idea what it is,
it sounds expensive!

If your lucky it could be low battery voltage, give it a good charge and try again

Hello Steve,
thanks for the suggestion.
I've got it sorted now!
I called the very, very friendly man from the AA and he narrowed it down to the injextor pump not pumping,
the tank fuel pump was delivering to the filter but the was no fuel at the injectors.
I had a replacement injector pump only last week so called the garage (Ian Barlcay, Birkenhead)
He said he'd call round in five minutes but it took him two minutes,
he popped his computer onto the car and re-set the fueling address's.
It fired up straight away.
the diagnosis was that the car had "lost" the address's for the ECU.
Ian said these things can happen.
I hope it does not happen when I'm in the South of France.
The AA man was slightly embaressed and I was happy it did not cost an arm and a leg.

Traction failure message is normal when the traction control has been operating for 2 minutes continuously, TC is then shut down to prevent brakes overheating.  Had that message in the recent snow, probably something to do with still not having a front prop shaft.

Hello Guys,
there seems to be a lot of things that control the fuel shut off in the injector pump, the drivers door is one of them, the alarm another.
So although I did not get a decent explainatioin from the computer guy it seems that for some reason my P38 was telling the pump not to operate.

I did have a Steinbauer upgrade fitted to the P38, the type you just screw into the plugs down the keft hand side of the engine,
I had the Steinbauer on for ten days and the problem occured twice,
I took the Steinbauer off about three weeks ago and have not had any more problems with it (touch wood)
