My new cam belt let go tonight after less than 700 miles. To say I'm upset is an understatement. Not so cheap crap from a major online land rover specialist. Boo hiss.

It was a joint effort by me and my mot man, seems the newness of it all was too much for the crank oil seal which allowed the belt to slip which promptly lunches the belt and the crank pulley and 5 push rods. Boo hiss.
That is it seems the last straw for my old man's patience with it, so I'm fixing it mot and gone. Possible replacements he has been looking at are Suzuki gv of diahatsu I think terrios, though whether I get his jimny or mothers terrios or sommat new remains to be seen.

The vehicles you mention are never going to replace a 90 if you use it for any kind of serious work! i currently drive a GV and really like it but it wouldnt last long as a worker reckon your in the market for a twin cab pickup of some sort, thats what i replaced my 90 with an Mitsi L200 damned heavy on the derv though ,

That is really the nub of it. I know that for farm work I need an industrial vehicle. My old man however cannot grasp that and insists that smaller is better, hence he drives a jimny. An example a 20acre field needs some thistles knocking down, we have a tractor mounted pasture topper for this work so I get sent out with a scythe and the topper stays in the shed. I can't win.
Still I got it fixed and it starts runs and goes well.

So I sent the old boy if to the main dealer for land rover in ripon today to see if he fits better in a puma hard top. He does so he was chatting to the sales bot about a part ex. Now bear in mind my car is a 98 90 truck cab and this is against a 58 90 hard top. They offered 1200 quid! That means depreciation of 6800 quid in two years! Robbing gits. Shame on them. A similar car to mine was available at 7g online. I think mine may yet have life in it yet.

Well it is getting booked in on Monday to have a very thorough inspection by a land rover specialist who we have not really used before, the idea being to get a list of what it needs to bring it up to a standard and to evaluate tha work against its value before and after. Assuming that the inspection is positive there is talk of making it into a station wagon to improve the available space and to maximize any potential profit if we do decide to sell it on either now or later.
