Finally fitted my Polybushes!!
« on: May 04, 2005, 17:55:39 »
Well after looking at them for months, I finally got round to fitting the front bushes on Monday. Glad I invested in a hydraulic press first though! It took something like 8 tons to get the radius arm bushes out!

What a doddle putting it back together though  :D

So, having also tightened the steering arm (again   ) and replaced the worn track rod end, I now have that wonderful thing called 'steering' again   It actually does something when I turn the steering wheel rather than just thinking about it   And when I stop, it doesn't wallow around like a Cadillac! Marvellous!

Now for the rears.......... anyone taking bets that I do it before Christmas?!!

Sheet metal folder.......

You expecting some welding?
Nice if you've got the room for one.

Now Ed, was that a serious question? It's a Land Rover and you are asking if I am expecting some welding

Actually just about to start on the second rebuild (first one was in 1983) of my 1965 MG Midget race car. It's been sat around since 1991 and I've just placed it strategically in the middle of the workshop so it looks like I am about to do something   It is going a little more radical than before. Things like recessing the exhaust up into the passenger floor to be able to lower it further, turreting telescopic rear shocks into the 'boot' area, proper air ducting to the radiator, etc.

I'll see if I can get a picture of it later and post it tomorrow for those who have the slightest bit of interest!

I fancied polybushes but was told it made the ride really hard so didn't bother.  Have you noticed a difference?
