Been looking forward to AWDC trial this weekend, first event after my medical driving ban, but just heard that it has been cancelled, a casualty of the new DEFRA rules apparently.  Have a nasty feeling this could be one of many events to suffer :!:  :!:  :!:

 The way things are going, the only place youll see any offroading i.e Trials etc will be in big arenas like the NEC or worse the MEN Arena, like they do with monster trucks and super-cross.

I know a bit far fetched but thats what i reckon will happen in the next 20 to 30 years or sooner... Time to protest i think.

Still waiting for the Greenlane issue outcome after the election has been and gone. But at the moment it doesnt look to bad for us... for now.  :?
If in first you dont suceed, try second....

Tim, apparently under the new farm subsidy rules motorsport is no longer an allowed activity, so landowners will lose out if they allow it on their land.  I dont pretend to understand the legalities of it all, but it is starting to have an effect.  Apparently last weekend a farmer just locked and guarded his gates on the Sunday where a Motocross event was due to happen.

It is a shame the two faced gits dont share the same outlook the people who gave their lives in the wars had, They are celebrating Ve day and have no idea why! its about time they realised that stifling the freedom of people all they are doing is wasting the effort of all those that died put in
Would we have been better off under Hitler? its rapidly starting to look that way!

I wondered if that was what you meant.

To the best of my knowledge, those are proposals and are not yet implemented.

Sounds like someone has either misunderstood things, or is just using it as a bit of propaganda.

Hi Tim, im not haveing a go, but ive heard of events up and down the country recently being cancelled due to this legislation from defra. Which was pushed through a month or two ago without any consultation with third partys i.e the offroad motorsport fraternity. It sounds like they just told the Farming community this is what is going to happen, therefore the farmers hands were tied, well they dont want to lose out subsidy pay now do they....

I'm with Tim. DEFRA themselves have said everyone has got the wrong end of the stick. And reading the legislation they are right. Can't see why events are being cancelled. Prehaps farmers and organisers ought to be ringing DEFRA and checking.

Perhaps someone could contact this guy and ask him what he's playing at? Where he got my email from I don't know

Dear Off-Roader,

I would like to introduce my company, <snip>, to you.

We are a small specialist off-road organisation offering a variety of 4x4 events aimed at owner drivers of mostly newer vehicles. We cater for any make of 4x4 vehicle and offer events from half day 'taster' sessions for novice drivers, up to 2 - 4 day events for more experienced off-road drivers. When planning trips, we try to bring together similar levels of off-road driving abilities so that everyone can gain a similar positive experience.

We offer greenlaning trips as well as events on private land and often we hire out dedicated off-road sites.

If you have time, please take a look at our website, <snip>, where you can see forthcoming events and past events, to get a feel for the sort of things we offer.

You will automatically be informed of any future news and events via email. If you wish to be taken off our mailing list, please reply to this email.

Thanks for your time.

Kind regards
Mike
<snip>

I'm, personally, not interested in "off road" or "play pits". Tazman has a bash now and again but I'm more Green Lane (some of those are a bit testing!). Let's see how this guy does with DEFRA vs farmers

Just been doing a little checking.  On a DEFRA site I went onto Single Payment Policies, then News Releases.  From there to Guidance on Non-Agricultural use.
Under Activities that are inconsistent with the land being concidered as remaining in agricultural use, you will find :-  ALL MOTOR SPORTS.
That sounds to me as no proposal.  Take a look yourselves.  We've just had to cancel a Tyro trial up here.

might need to ask defra or a farmer that runs these, the only part I can find on there website is restriction to non agricultural activity's is when applying for single-payment scheme. doesn't say all farms just the ones applying  :?

hmm seems like people are just cancelling trough spite, as I can't see many off-road course on farmers land used for anything else, so the farm can set the land aside

read this, might give some back ground info for anyone that too worried

Yep.. that was what I thought too.
We aren't in the scheme here, so we could run events if we wanted to.

The thing is that whatever the rights and wrongs of the interpretation of the ruling, if the landowner wont allow you on his land, then end of story.  I would think that the income from the average club event would not be enough to encourage them to take a chance.

it has taken effedt, was doin a bit of laneing down here and calle di non a farmer down the road and his first words were sorry boy, no way!, i hadnt said a word and apparently any sights of a vechicle or bike on his land and he looses his subsidy, and the best of it was he's been runing ploughing contests on  his land for 20yrs and doint that this year would mean breaking the deal and consiquently loosing his subsady.
also in motorcycle news last wek there was a whole page with cancled events.
it cant carry on soo i think a protest is in order!

Would have to be a judicial review. Takes months.
