Praying for more rain

and hoping that outsider pillocks that live in Chitterne village in Warminster experience what a REAL flood is, not the few large puddles of a couple inch deep that they have had  Seriously... money talks and having a councillor in village means road closure and pump trucks dispatched so save their gardens and the odd wet door mat.

Daily pump trucks clearing the drains. MOD Police manning road block yesterday who said they were asked to do so but they could not see a valid reason for it as they have driven the village themselves and found the standing water benign. Civil police harassing anyone ignoring the needless road closed signs. Seriously, the people trying to use that road to get to work are the ones paying to pamper these fools. TWO PUDDLES, that is it. You'd have trouble drowning a snake in the depth of water there.

I get the impression that you are a little less than happy for some reason.  Let them get on with it, if they have enough rope they will hang themselves. Especially if the media were to get hold of the story.

I have to commute via that village.

BBC news crew were there on the first day, no guesses who called them.. don't think they bothered getting camera out of car though as car driving through a little puddle won't even make Points West.

There has been a conversation with Emergency Planning Officer/Team on this on-going situation, they seem to be wary of hearing about the place and were only too keen to point the finger at the source of the issues in Chitterne... and is wasn't the excess of water to blame!

Turns out that the road never had a TRO placed on it, council just put out the road signs and cones to appease. The road should have been open anyway to residents of the village, people who work there and services like school bus, bin lorry etc. The Police had no official reason to prevent people using the road. 'No one' knows how the MOD police got involved in blocking the road at Knook Camp off the A36 (The red cap there said the Police asked them).

They closed 4km of road in one direction and 4km of road in the other direction leading to Chitterne for about a week. Only other route caused a +5km journey which still had to go through a portion of the village which villagers kept moving flood signs into dangerous positions in the road or blocking with their cars. They stopped people attempting to drive via that route with "can't you read?".

Shame on those folks abusing privileged positions, anti British, harmful to economic recovery and a drain on local resources that was/is much needed elsewhere at this time.

This is what happens when there is too much money and not enough brains.  We have a similar situation in our village only with snow not flooding.
