viscus coupling bearing 300 tdi

has anyone changed the bearing that is set into the timing case cover, is it possible to change the bearing or do you have to change the cover????

According to the manual, and therefore most threads you'll read on the subject, the main timing cover bearing is a press fit and not a serviceable item, thereofre you need a new cover.

However, it had to be made and can therefore be remade, if you have the tools and the talent.

Not a job I've looked at yet but I'd not be surprised if someone makes a repair kit for it by now.

The original bearing is a press fit BTW, so it's not going to want to come off easily.
