I suspect he just means a non-paying bidder.  I can't see any way you could scam as a buyer.

kind of but thing is is that with me, till i see the greens so to speak i dont send.

I got hit by one of these scammers.
He went through all the finishing items and bidded them up to silly heights. He 'bought' my 6 & 7 seats from my disco for £800. I thought xmas had come early till i read what else he'd bought in the last ten minutes. Approx £95k worth of stuff. Motorcycles, cars, dvd's, clothes, childrens cots. W*****R!
I second chanced the seats to the next highest bidder which was £550 but they turned around and claimed that if there bids wer'nt real neither was theres!.
Sold them eventually for £300.
Dam it. I had plans for that cash. Winch, bumper, rock sliders so on... :roll:

I think that's exactly what he's no about.

I've heard of this scam happening with quite a few vehicles for sale on eBay.
They make sure they win the auction then the email arrives about them owing money to someone in this country and can you take your share from the cheque and pass the rest on.............
If they go for higher priced objects then they stand a better chance of getting more out of you if you fall for it.
If you don't fall for it and you have the same problem as BBD then you've still got to pay for the listing!!

I've started blocking bidders from outside the UK, neg feedback and thoughs with 2 un-paid strikes within the last 30 days.

hello i,ve sold loads of stuff on ebay and ebay has a £500 protection limit so you can get money back if theres a problem but if you are selling for more than that you must wait until you have the money before you part with your goods but a good rule of thumb is get buyer to pay cash on collection

we had our ebay identity stolen once ,I found out when I logged in one day and found to my horror that I was selling a Sony top of the range p4 laptop. We had a hell of a job getting it sorted as the people bidding thought that we were just trying to get it for ourselves cheaper by getting them to retract their bids. We all trade on trust and I feel that ebay is a good auction site but also very open to abuse :)

paypal is easier as you know youve got the money then its sorted.

cash on collection is a bit uneasy for me as you dont know who you are going to meet do you.

thats the problem when you sell something that cant be posted :(

not had a good time with ebay recently, won an auction from a ebay shop and as didn't get enough to cover the cost so they removed the auction day after I won :(
 and atm having trouble arranging a time to pick up my new win, as phone just rings and he answers emails a bit slow  :(

if they removed it after you won it and rejected then you do a negative feedback on the sale

also when you finally obtain the next product make sure you put a neutral feedback not positive as its not been a good one

argh that's the real iffy bit, looks like when ebay shops remove items after winning they get cleared off the system !!!!!!! always wondered how they get away with very litle neg feed back  :shock:  a few people at work have had bad experience with ebay shops and same thing item removed from system  :shock: lucky i paid with paypal or would have been no record of transaction.

the other auction, should give him a litle more time, not everyone lives by comps :) maybe i might be lucky and get answer soon as only nottingham so not far to pop up and get  :roll:
