So, my fan belt is squeeking ALOT.

The belt that runs the alternator is very noisy, I have tightened it as much as I can but to no avail.

turning the wheels when stationary causes it to saqueek and it also squeeks when the revs are too high for the current speed.

I tested it today, parked up , bonnet open and turned the wheel.

The alternator actually stops rotating and the belt squeels.

Whats the problem? Is it the belt still being loose or something else??

Yes, it is the correct belt, and yes it is in good condition (brand new in fact).

are you sure its not your power steering belt slipping? i had that on mine and found it had run out of adjustment cos the pipe pn the pump fouled the alternator bracket, careful modification with a die grinder allowed me more adjustment and stopped the squeak

Or a glazed belt.
Mine did that, minly because of the mud, and a belt change cured it.

Apparently the 300 belt only goes on one way. I don't think this applies to the 200.

200,s are not the multi vee type whereas 300,s are

I had the same thing, and thought it was the accessory belt, but it turned out to be dead PAS pump bearings.

Anyone know how I can check what the prob is without replacing any pumps?

It is very strange, when staionery, turning the wheel causes it to squeel, but it often squeels when driving normally, depending on whether the revs are too high/low.

My dead scientific test involved thinking "Oh, it's probably nothing" for a long time, before the PAS finally died (I was going round a roundabout at the time).

This does sound bad but it works ...

Pop the bonet
start the engine
have somebody turn the wheel and at the same time (and I am using the ainsley technique) drizzel some washing up liquid onto the belts if it is them squeeling they will be silenced for a short time ...

Then you just wash the soap off with a hose and it will either be degreased and quiet for a while  or sqeeling again. but at least you'll now where the noise is comming from (this was done to an old car of mine by a vauhall mechanic who had been shown the trick by his grandfather and it does work) :D

I do that, be careful the fan doesn't blow it everywhere.

why turn the wheel?? maybe a daft question but I woudnt think this was needed for belt issues.

Another cure is to get a tin of 'belt slip' from the local motor spares and spray that on the belt. If it is a belt issue, the noise will go away. Over Feb/Mar when I couldnt be bothered changing the large belt on the 300TDi, I did this every 500 miles or so until the weather was nice enough to allow me to change the belt.  I also believe there is a possible issue with the tensioner on the large belt but again the spray will help prove where the issue is.

To put load on the power steering pump and thus slow the pully down if the drive belt to the pump is the faulty one then it will squeek if it dosn't that belt then drives the same pulley that the alternator belt is also connected to give the engine a boot full to to see if it squeeks then you will know which belt is making the noise. :D
