One thing I find with the 101 is that it encourages careful, patient, considerate driving, because it's just too big, bulky and unmanouverable to take any chances with.

So whilst carefully driving down the narrow country lanes in Devon last week I was slightly irked to have a white panel van hurtling towards me showing no signs of stopping, slowing down or even acknowledging I was trundling towards him.

You do also tend to feel quite invulnerable, particularly with the roll cage, so whilst I slowed down and tucked myself into the hedge, I wasn't particularly concerned about the outcome.  Needless to say, he neither slowed nor tucked himself into the hedge.

His wing mirror clipped my wing mirror and tore out his glass and the motor...  ha ha.  (Not a scratch on mine, of course.)

Then my friend (following behind) pointed out that as he went past my rear end (I was on on a slight left hand bend) he'd caught the rest of his mirror on the back of my roll cage and broken the plastic casing in half!

As you can imagine, I was considerably cheered after that.

Good work.
Now your next mission: we expect at least half a white van in pieces next time!

Yeah well...  a few weeks ago my friend was driving it, also in Devon, and had a scuffle with a saloon car coming the other way.

I didn't see it, but I understand a fairly noteable amount of panel damage was done to the car, running into hundreds of pounds of repairs.

And the 101?  One broken repeater light lens, but apart from that, not even a scuff!

Then you get a recorded delivery letter (don't worry the postman will probably sign for it to save waking you up and delaying him on his round, that is of course if he can actually manage to tell the difference between your house and one with similar numbers but in a different order) off the police asking you to provide details of the driver and that they are contemplating prosecuting you for driving without due care and attention.

BTDT got the producer

Note to self - next time someone tries to cut me up get the hell out of their way as I *must* be in the wrong

(I'm not bitter   )
