loud squeaky noise
« on: June 10, 2005, 06:55:01 »
Hello to one and all,as i turn into right hand bends and apply braking (or not as the case maybe) there is a loud noise which travels across the axle from offside to nearside.
The discs and pads have just been changed all round,as has the f/o/ cv+ball joint+bearings, swivel pins ,shims, ive been back to the garage they dont seem to know.
The vehicle performed very well last week in the lakes but for this worrying noise,i would appreciate your advice cheers.

PAS belt?

sounds silly but you never know, if not maybe a wheel bearings a bit loose or a caliper is a bit stiff

noise from front axle
Me +the  mechanic  went for a run in my Disco the noise was  only audible
at threequarter lock and still happened after the belts were tightened up.Would the fact that when the brakes are applied going downhill in short bursts just to assist negotiating bends this protesting noise occurs(if i can put it like that )help to indicate the problem?
Advice from you guys appreciated, thank you

you say the discs and pad have just been changed, could the noise just be them bedding in? or did the garage loose the anti-squeal shims for the pads?

axle noise

Yes Steve the discs and pads have just been replaced but this noise occurs at threequarter lock in a right hand turn when no braking is applied, not on the offside but between the middle and nearside of the axle?I wonder if the other cv joint/bearings/ball joint are on the way out or if it is something simple ie bushes or a bearing?
