spoof parking tickets from the anti's
« on: June 14, 2005, 11:33:02 »
Just got my parcel from the alliance against urban 4x4's today with my spoof parking tickets.

which planet are these people on????

we dont get theses up here in the north east so first time |I've seen them properly.

I like the fact that the tickets are printed on high gloss paper which is harder to recycle (not printed recycled paper either) and these no mention on them about sensible disposal of ticket - i.e use a bin/recycle but dont litter

especialy like the bit about -
"Stick to big models and avoid the little ones like the Justy and RAV4 and make sure you look for signs of genuine off road use such as mud or equipment in the back.We want farmers who need these things on our side so try not to anoy them by mis-targeting"

surley the justy and RAV4 are 4x4 and should there for come into same bracket? its these kind of little 4x4 that the chav's tend to drive and cause more of the "25% more accidents than ordinary cars" or are the geniuses a the AAU4x4 selective because they like RAV4 or indeed have family members who drive them temselves?

also by this if you carry a hi-lift or have a muddy vechicle your fine then....anyone up for a little bit of langdale or whaddon or some of that instand mud

these are now being concined to the local paper bank but if anyone would like to see the ticket/leter please feel free to mail me and I'll send you a copy

I still have mud on my wheels from Langdale and some vegetation sticking out my radiator grill so I'm fine    I guess the HUGE mud-club sticker on the bonnet counts as 'genuine off-road use' too

Stick them on a few 2x4 cars/buses/vans/motorbike/cycles/prams etc.

Clearly this lot have no idea what they are talking about- my Surf (and many others) is 2wd 99% of the time (even when offroading) I only select 4wd when needed- so is my car a 4x4 or not? Just because it's large and "looks threatening" then it's a target for these ill informed idiots.

As I posted on another thread of this ilk, stick them on police, fire, gas board, council etc 4x4's.

If you get those groups upset about the antics of the antis it can only help to reduce their credibility.

I had a similar ticket left on my Freelander (which was filthy at the time) asking me why I had bought such an uneconomical vehicle? Oh, 37mpg not good enough then? Freebies take up less length than a Volvo estate, a Chrysler Voyager, a Peugeot 407 estate, etc, etc.
A Volvo estate had parked in a space in Stoke Mandeville Hospital making it impossible for anything other than a Metro or Micra to get past because its arse end stuck out so far   I wish I had a ticket to put on his car

I've had an eMail from Greenpeace today in response to my comment about trees. Note the last paragraph:-

"We have no objection to working Land Rovers, for example those driven off-road by farmers or used for necessary towing or relief aid. But we do object to 4x4 vehicles being mass marketed to urban drivers who rarely, if ever, drive off-road or encounter anything hillier than a speed bump.

Please have a look on our web site at www.choosecleanenergy.com to read our case against Land Rover and 4x4s and why the UK should be producing small fuel efficient vehicles if we are to save the climate and protect car manufacturing jobs in the UK.

If 1million people took part in our choosecleanenergy campaign, leading to 50 million+ people taking action on climate change that would be absolutely fantastic!  If no action is taken then within our lifetime climate change could threaten the homes and lives of millions and condemn a third of all species to extinction.  Trees are under far greater threat from inaction than our campaign!"

Hi Jake - thanks for your support on ScoobyNet ;)

Address for tickets for 'wastemonsters' is http://www.wastemonsters.org.uk/ just send them an email as directed with your name and address...

Costs them 46p to send, and the price of printing ~ 30 shiny double sided coloured flyers :D

Need to maximise agro against their cause though... So target Farmers, working 4x4s, emergency services, subaru Justys, small RAV4's etc  :(vamp):  :(biglaugh):

Good quote from document under "How to change things for the better":
"By catching the bus. Unlike in the car, on the bus you can catch up on some work or some reading. As with walking, the busier the bus is the safer everone feels"
 - Hmm Car 20 Mins to work, bus an hour - I guess you would have time to do some work - certainly need to do something if you're going to be 40 mins late   , busier bus = safer bus... Oh yes so public transport does have some drawbacks including cost, time, safety... - Ah well - If it means the planet will be saved it might be worth it  :(biglaugh):

Having had some experience with dealing with certain people from the Anti campaign...   by far the best way to deal with them is by using the hard facts.

If you analyse the claims and arguments they have, none of them support the "facts" about 4x4s being the villans.

There are worse cars for pollution, for size, for safety.  You can play the statistics game all day if you like... for every 4x4 you find, you *will* find a current production car that is worse on some or all of the issues.

Don't let them get away with peddling lies and innuendo....  challenge them.

Ask Greenpeace what they are doing about the massive pollution caused by air travel....   sit on the street for a day and do a survey of the number of people on buses...  give them facts... show them that we are NOT a bunch of mindless idiots shouting "geronimo !" as we tear up the country, running over small children with a smile on our faces.

They gained a lot of support by demonising the 4x4....   we have got a lot of ground back because they weren't expecting us to fight...

Good point Tim. I had this conversation with my next door neighbours the other week. They are in principle against me having my "toy" to play with but they are kind enough to leave me alone about it. But I had to laugh when they told me they were off to the USA for their summer holidays and they were making a point of not booking an SUV as a hire car coz it was bad for the planet etc...I had to point out they were being hypocrytical having just dumped X million times more pollution into the atmosphere by crossing the Atlantic in a jumbo.

About 360 kilogrammes per seat per flight as a rough estimate (Concorde used 1,000Kg)
And the emissions are far worse.

For 2 of us that equates to about 4,500 miles or more in the Range Rover, Family of 4, 9,000 miles plus.

Disgraceful really given that the holiday lasts 2 weeks on average, 9,000 miles in a fortnight?
