***LIVE 8 Ticket Sales on eBay.co.uk*** 13 June, 2005 | 07:19PM BSTWe wanted to let you know that we will be permitting the sale of LIVE 8 concert tickets on eBay.co.uk. As we do not wish to profit from this event, we have offered to make a donation to the LIVE 8 charity at least equivalent to the fees we collect from the sale of LIVE 8 tickets. We are allowing the sale of tickets because we believe that people can make up their own minds about what they buy and sell. The reselling of charity concert tickets is not illegal under English law and eBay believes it is a fundamental right for someone to be able to sell something that is theirs whether they paid for it or won it in a competition.Regards,The eBay.co.uk Team
i see on the news they now say they have pulled them
***Message from Doug McCallum: LIVE 8 Ticket Sales*** 14 June, 2005 | 07:34PM BSTDear all,Today you have made it very clear to us that our previous decision to allow the sale of LIVE 8 tickets on eBay.co.uk was not one that the vast majority of you agreed with. As a result of this clear signal from the Community we have decided to prohibit the resale of LIVE 8 tickets on the site.Although the resale of tickets is not illegal, we think that this is absolutely the right thing to do. We have listened to the views you expressed on the discussion boards and in the many emails you have sent to us. We shall be working over the next few hours to remove all LIVE 8 ticket listings from the site. Thanks for taking the time to contact us and make your views heard,Regards,Doug McCallumManaging Director, eBay (UK) Ltd.On behalf of the whole eBay.co.uk team
Either way im amazing people are so greedy. If I won some and could not go, why not flog them and offer the money to the charity? What is wrong with people today???? P***es me off!!!!!!
Could this be a publiscity stunt gone wrong??? I love Ebay but this has really shown them in a bad light.
