Serious question here about plates (reg).
If I do get one and put it on my motor, what do I do if I ever come to sell it (god forbid) .
OK it could stay on, but what if I wanted to keep the private plate?
Is it the same process again for getting a non private plate put back on?
Just thought it might be worth knowing this before I go ahead, if I'm allowed

I think you just need to pay the £80 transfer fee, not sure if you're existing registration goes into limbo and you get it back or if you're just assigned an age related plate.

Andy,
Chris is right, £80 to transfer it to another vehicle,
Or £105 to put it on retention (for transfer at a later date)
Should you not have a vehicle to transfer it to.
Your old number plate will be held at Swansea and put back
on the vehicle when the plate is transfered..

When I changed my last Disco, they put a different number on it, still a N reg, but a diffent number/area. In fact, I presume the new owner knows but it has five different registrations by thre time I sold it.
It was registered with a normal N reg, in 96, it then had a private plate put on , when I purchase it , it was 12 month old and the exowner had keep the private plate, therefore it had gained another age related reg. I then put my private plate on, which I kept when I sold it. Colliers then put a 3rd N reg plate on.

Cheers guys bit clearer on things now :D
Mine too has in it's history had three different plates on. K reg plate from new 03/93, then private from 09/94 to 04/97 then to what it is now , but this is different from the original K reg plate :?:

FWIW/IMHO;
Generally these days they re-assign the plate the vehicle originally had (has been the case for ALL of the Disco's that I have owned, but not for the RR...).
This of course depends on the age of the vehicle in question and more importantly if the previous number has been re-assigned elsewhere or removed from the register.

Found a picture of another prospective member taken at Piece Hall last year (same weekend as LRO - Bramham Park)
A very nice 90 Anniversary.

The 'high-rise' 90 in the background is the amphibious 90 restored by Kevin Baldwin for 'LRW'

Keep your old number plates and when you go to the DVLA to apply to transfer your private plate to another vehicle or put it on retention take them with you and ask them to put that number back on.
If you do that you will get the old number back, if you just apply and don't specify a number then they will assign a new age related plate.

Hi Andy
I'm getting the "stare effect" quite a bit with mine, but then it's still coated with Whitworth's finest! The only clean bit is the plates
Had a guy on the M1 the other day that kept speeding up and slowing down to get another look! I do enjoy commuting in the Landy every now and again!!!
Cheers

Just phoned insurance up to change the details of the reg and they've charged me £30.22 for administration cost
I ask you, I may as well write them a blank cheque every year
Not best pleased at all.
Still plate looks good, cheers all fellow posse members for the inspiration. We will all have to meet up some day and get a group photo :D
