spring spacers = cheap - someone here sells them.

new springs, £30 per corner, new shocks £30 per corner... Fitting at a garage give an hour per corner worst case scenario at your normal rate.. So all in around £350-£400.

Its not a difficult job with a highlift.

what are you hoping to do in the long run?
If you are happy to just lift the disco then spacers are ok but a bit of a pain at the front. If you are thinking about a winch/bumper you really should uprate your springs (or you will find you dont have a lift when you fit the winch). If you get progressive springs rather than some of the crap on offer you will improve articulation, shocks 35 quid from procomp or paddock or just about anyone in lro. If you are tyring to improve your offroad ability buy 4 inch longer shocks and get disloctaion cones( about 100 quid off ebay)That way you will get additional droop.....oh and remember longer brake lines aren't optional, if you like to be able to stop fit them- dont let anyone tell you otherwise,no brakes..... :shock:

Longer springs and dampers, around £350.  I'm not keen on spacers for the Rangie because the springs are softer due to the presence of a self-leveling unit which becomes redundant on a lifted car.  Even for a Disco the stiffer springs in a lifting kit will help with roadholding.

Brake hoses £50-70
Castor correction £200
Cardan front prop £180
Extended bump stops £30

Anti roll bar spacers £20

At first I started with 2" spacers under the rear and a 2" dropper on the dampers. on the rear.
Range rover rear springs (HD police spec as they are often called) on the front.

This gave a reasonably cheap solution but I went on to change things around later.

Brake lines. It's possible to modify the rear mount and front ones for that matter.

Castor angle. Not much choice unles you're lucky and the castor angle isn't thrown out too much. The castor is more of a problem the nearer you go to a minus reading.

New springs can give nearly a 2" lift if you've got old worn springs.

It all depends on how handy you are with tools and lathes etc.

Brake lines need to be looked at in some way. I've seen 2" lifted motors hanging with the rear brake line as tight as a guitar string.

Wwhat can I say? I've only ever been caught out by the fact the Disco is wider. That was on some lanes in Devon that got narrower and narrower. 90s etc had obfiously managed the lane but with rocks on both sides it was imposible in a Disco.

You don't have to do 2" ... a 1" lift avoids the castor angle and brake hose length problem. And 235/85's fit :wink:

If your wife/partner/friend is on the short side (e.g. 5' 3") they won't thank you for the extra effort needed to actually get in ... apparently :wink:  :lol:

No (Yes?!) I did cut the rear arches, but that's all - although I haven't fully tested it offroad yet.

I've lifted both a Disco I and a Disco II and in both cases the brake hoses were fine, and I haven't had any problems with the caster angles.

YMMV...

very good of you Ed! was thinking of phoning about it tommorrow morning, a pity there isn't much time left, i didn't see it on ebay yesterday when i was looking. the main problem is would i be able to sell the series3 and if so would i get a decent price for it,a bit of a gamble... :?
