egr setup on a mk1 shogun????

hi all
does anyone have any idea how to setup my egr? i had a racing engine problem so sorted out the pump side of things all seems fine but i have a slight power loss all i can put it down to is that on opening the egr unit and what appeared to look like timing marks on the piston/plunger i lined it up with the notch on the side, am i right in doing this or have i made a booboo  :oops:
any help on this plz

Blank it off.   Have a look in the forums on PajeroUK for quite a lot of info on Paj EGR.

hi thanks guys
now ive heard about this blanking method, but in my experience i didnt think it was a good idea to blank it at the time, so what i did do is clean it and yes it did get rid of the smoke its great now i can see cars in my rearview, its just the performance side of it now it seems slower than b4, now i think its the pump that needs tuning but im open to any person wiser than i am on this topic to come forth with their ideas plz :D

are you getting any smoke? have you had the pump timing checked?

see this y i am in a pickle sir, coz b4 it smoked more fags than i did black smoke all the time but since i took out the egr and cleaned it up i only have a slight puff only when i really put my foot down but not when im normally driving, b4 i had all power now its ok but it dont seem to hold well on hills

ok,it might be running a little lean(black smoke is overfuelling). you could turn the pump up a little,or get used to it and enjoy the increased mpg :shock:

surely not :shock:  a shogun with increased mpg!!! ill eat my hat  :o

thanks ill c about doing that then it needs a new cambelt so do it then

what has happened is,you cleaned the EGR and now it's working properly,before it was stuck open. the result is increased mpg and cooler running. so all good really :wink:
