« on: June 25, 2005, 19:42:24 »
Does anyone know of any produccts to trat alloy corrosion?
A couple of places on my disco the paintwork is bubbleing and its got the white powder behind it!
I propose to wire brush it out and refill before re-painting!
But are there any products out there i could treat it with before filling and painting?
                                Cheers Nev.....

Clear away all the loose paint, lightly rub bare ali with some wet and dry. Then use mineral water or fresh rain water to clean thouroughly(Dont use tap water). If possible put some alchrome on it (only if you can get it,a friend in the aerospace workplace maybe?) If not, its not serious as it is only an extra help to protect the ali. Then get some ali etch primer on for a good key, I recomend a couple of coats, a light rub in between coats. then paint  :D If the corrosion is through the ali then you will have to treat the cause behind the ali first
