Title: Glow plug light
Post by: nzoliver on July 05, 2005, 08:52:06
Hi all, I have a '97 Disco Tdi that is ex Japan - therefore it has EDC! Anyone else have EDC in theirs? Trouble is the glow plug light is staying on. Me thinks a knackered timer for the glow plugs.

HELP !!!!! 8)

Check if your glow plugs still have power to them when the engine is running.

8) Hi there, well the lecky stays on. I pulled the plug off the timer and as expected power was cut. I guess it is time for a new timer...or is there another reason??

Sounds like it, but does the motor start ok without the glow plugs, if so no panic on replacing it. My 200 fires straight up, without waiting for the plugs, winter or summer

just a thought: had diesel cars for many years and i have found that the glow plugs do stay on after the engine has started (only for a short time ) if the plugs stayed on all the time they would have burnt out

Hi,
Yep, I think they will be burnt out. Will find out today when it is given a new cam belt and serviced. :)   Going to be an expensive day! :(

Oh well, it's a Landrover!
