Title: Replacing rear X Member
Post by: Kenny on July 08, 2005, 19:12:17
Well it did not fail the MOT on this but I have been told that the rear x member is shot. There is a big hole where it joins the chassis and when they looked at welding it just started crumbling.

I have been looking at the Paddock kit complete with Chassis bars and am going to get a friend to fit.

Now as to preparation, do I really need to take the entire back off the 90 or can it be done without bearing in mind I do not have a ramp or anything of the like.

TIA

Damian

Do it with the rear body on... it gives you some help for getting it lined up.

Take a load of measurements before you cut the old one off.

Jigsaw a couple of holes in the floor to allow you to weld the top of the chassis rails properly.. you can put an inspection panel over them ;-)

Watch out for the wiring loom !!  It's in the chassis rail

Thanks Tim, sounds like a plan.
