My farther worked on a farm in devon and they made there own scrumpie.
The next door farm had the press and the local farmers would bring in there apples and the end result would be shared out according to who bought in the most fruit to be used. Kind of a cider co-op.
They would ferment the juice as normal but the thing that made this cider special was they would put a large joint of beef into the cider while fermenting.
Then when the beef had totaly desolved they knew the scumpie was ready to bottle.
hows that for mind rotter.

Cider :? Now there's a thought! :D I hope Tim's taking some of his to Billing. I've never been able to sample it properly :(
