It's ATF and if you're anything like me I had a hell of a job getting the filler plug undone.

Make sure you check that it will come undone BEFORE you drain the oil.

Luckily I did check.

On my 1993 200tdi it's a 1/2" square plug and no end of trying spanners would work. I ended up with an adapter on a long breaker bar.
It's the opposite to the T box filler.

Difflock.com do a special replacement plug.
Worth investigating.

Also, the filler holes on both gearboxes, as far as I remember, are a PITA to get to

I bought one of these UMETA 1 Litre Oil and Fluid Transfer Pump (http://www.difflock.com/cgi-bin/wm10/wm10_02606/st/ws20_9800/main/browse.cgi?in_store=5001&final_pick=y&cust_cat=Socketry+Wrenches+and+Hand+Tools&cat_cat_max=&cust_id=0TJR4GCYY&cust_cat_index=1&pick_flag=y&setup_value=1&cleanup=n&item_id=DF2) things from DiffLock - most defintely worth the money - IMHO

It was actually the guy from difflock (is it Pete) that got it loose for me on his drive.
He's a good lad.

Last time I did the Disco I used MTF instead of ATF in the gearbox as that's what Land Rover are using now.
To get the MTF into the gearbox and the EP90 into the transfer box I got used one of these:

They are a syphon pump made by Draper Tools (http://www.drapertools.com), stock number 43650, part No SP1, and cost a whole £2.07 on the Draper website and about the same from any good auto parts shop!!

That looks like a really good piece of kit, I can' think of a use for it at the moment, but for £2.07 (no telephone call to the bank manger required) I think I must get one anyway.

Next I need something to use it on/for.

But wait, I see a Discovery on my drive (a need will be along shortly I'm sure).

Now where is that credit card.....

Tim.
