Have a look here (http://members.mud-club.com/profiles/Jake/gallery/jake25/3/745786-1121683911.) for a series 2 disco that was camped behind me.
He went down the 2nd danger drop in 2nd gear and CRASH
He said it made a hell of a noise
I bet!!!!
New bumper, a bar, spots and probebly some metal work required.

i thought that too
cant be happy with that damage though

If I was there at the time I would not have laughed

just after the 2nd water splash (where the crowd hang around) you can go straight on or left. Left is a drop which is quite steep.
steper than he thought!!!!

Do they not have descent control? Or was it a case of he did not know to go slow there.
Whilst on the subject of descent control, do most 4x4's have this or is it dependent on your model. My frontera has it and it is a great help.

what a shame
it was a nice disco as well :(

Do they not have descent control?
They do mate - provided it was switched on! However, on that particular drop (short but steep) it probably wouldn't have come into effect in time ... :(
As to the likely damage - not too severe. The D2 has 'crush cans' between the bumper and the chassis. These are designed to absorb the impact, preventing unnecessary actuation of the airbags and damage to the chassis ... Cost - about £20 each (there's 2) plus VAT from a L-R dealer.
Then there's the bumper, a-bar, spots ...
