Title: TD5 DIY
Post by: LOFTY on August 22, 2005, 13:51:49
Well fancy making a TD5 engine, well you can, the entire production line is for sale by DOVEBID, sold as surplus assets by landrover.
So how many engines do they have left?
Is the V6 diesel going into the defender, or the Ford Focus diesel?

Apparently it will have a derivative of the TDCi, as fitted to Transit vans and Mondeos ...

It'll be 'White Defender Man' next ... :)

I drove the 2.0l diesel Jag yesterday, which I'm told is the same engine as fitted to Mondeos.  It was pretty darn good actually...  if it's related to whatever engine they're putting in the Defender, then maybe all is not lost.

SWMBO's 'works van' (the Mondeo) in my signature block only has the 115bhp derivative & still goes like 'good for the roses off a digging implement', & I mean seriously quick for a 2-litre diesel (in a big hatch)
So quite how a 'Roverised' verison will perform is anyones guess.

That would explain why they'er not to fussed by full line shut downs due to the crank machinery breaking down at the moment!

One careful owner eh?
