To see 'The Dukes Of Hazzard'
All I can say is..........
It's differant.......
I was quite prepared to be disppointed by it after reading various reviews & hearing the originals casts view on it.
However, it's got to be taken as a whole & I think it works, even allowing for a cast I wasn't too sure about.
If you don't know by now;
Jessica Simpson; Daisy Duke
Johnny Knoxville; Luke Duke
Seann William Scott; Bo Duke
Wille Nelson; Uncle Jessie
Burt Reynolds; Boss Hogg
Linda Carter; Pauline (yes!, the Wonder Woman)
David Koechner; Cooter
It has been questioned why they're running a 36year old car, but in the early sequences it is seen to be fairly tatty & rusty (no flag, or decals) & possibly in keeping with hot-rodding farm-boys
Obviously the plot is inconsequential (as per the TV series), it was a 'rollicking good ride'.
Jessie was a wise-cracking comedian though, & it doesn't work
On second thoughts, go & see it!!
Just don't expect the 'innocence' of the TV series.
It does make you smile & really. really want a 69 Charger (even more so than I've ever done, & it's in my top 5 cars)

Oh, & the doors opened in the general early on in the film.
The climbing in is explained by Cooter later.
Wait for the 'Safe ride' :D & the guy with the Armadillo hat :?
-
Well i thought it was fantastic. Did you stay right to the end, when they showed the outtakes, and the smashing up several Generals.... :D :D :D :D
YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEHHHHHHHHHHH HHHHHAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, that's one thing you never saw on the TV.
I'd have liked to have seen Jessie a lit bit more 'down to earth', not an em-bittered Korean War veteran.
And as for the phone books??? what were they thinking of?

](*,) :D :D
-
Well ion that case! I think i might make the effort! :)

Enjoyed it, me and Rollazuki went on Thurs to meadowhall. The car control in some of the chases was superb. The jump to the freeway! crazy.
If i remember correctly the doors were welded shut in the series...something to do with racing, i dont remember exactly.
mmmm V8, the car sounds awesome just ticking over!!

Yes, but the jumps were even more far-fetched than the series (& as for the out-takes )

It was (in the TV series) an ex- NASCAR car that was in a junkyard after being used in a bank robbery & the boys & Cooter rescued it

The one they used for the soundtrack, was the Magnum, as it's the 'throatiest' of the proper Charger/Challenger engines
This is a great book about the TV series (& the 2 previous films), The Un-Official Companion (http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/1580630383/qid%3D1125176593/202-4717755-4985419). I've had a copy for about 5 years

More points
1. The opening sequence with the chasing pick-up & the shotgun through the floor
2. Bo's face when he realises Cooter has fitted a 'Hemi'
I think I'd act the same if someone stuffed one in the Discovery for me
3. The traffic-scenes in Atlanta about red-necks & they realise there's a Confederate flag on the roof
4. One of the initial 2 Campus police was the director
5. It was nice to see Flash was not forgotten

Went and saw said movie myself this afternoon, excellent film was great fun, not a patch on the original TV series but never the less was a good 2 hours well spent :)

That Simpson woman is rather vacuous, she can't hold a candle to Catherine Bach.

With BTM on that :D

Here's a few Duke sites

Little known facts; Initially the car was to have been a new Trans-Am,b ut was thought too ostentatious.
The original name-choice for the 'General' was 'Traveller' (Robert E Lees horse)

you posted this on a web site where probably a large proportion of Land Rover owning members vehicles are older than this :!: :!:

I meant in the various film critics reviews.
My first Landie was only 4 years younger than me. co-inicdentally that was a '69
-
Almost forgot, I've got a Charger (had it about 8years)
It's about a foot long from Nudge-bar to tail-lights.
Now I want the 'Bullit' '68 GT390 to go with it
(& the black '78 Trans-Am)
-
And so you can all sing along at the end (http://www.cowboylyrics.com/lyrics/jennings-waylon/theme-from-the-dukes-of-hazzard-13125.html)
I used to have this on a 45 somewhere, absolutely no idea where it is now :?
