As a Coastguard you get invited to take part is some interesting events from time to time. Tuesday evening was the annual joint emergency services exercise at Stornoway Airport (yes we have an airport! ).
I was the observer for the Coastguard at the exercise which allowed me to take few photos of the airport fire tenders and I though you lot may like to take a look. :D

............and here's three more for you :D :

With a long wheelbase they are likely to get stuck on the tops off hills if taken off road....
.... Unless that is what the water cannon is for (flattening hills before it gets to them)
-
These are the SWB ones, central steering position and nice for flat airfields!! :D
-
We've got a few of these on the airfield here including the bigger ones and what amazes me is their acceleration from standstill!
I guess it helps when you don't have to pay for the fuel
-
if they are the turbo diesel 1's,have you seen the size of it,needs mesh on the front top stop it sucking up small adults its huge,is that the same sort o 1's that can out accelerate fast cars??
-
Mike, if I remember correctly from a visit about 3 years ago (when they let us drive one up & down the runway!!! \:D/ ) they are twin turbo two stroke diesels  , can't remember the engine size though.

It did, there were casualties around the aircraft who had verious injuries, there was one person trapped in a car who had to be cut free plus others inside the aircraft (these were not real people though!!).
In total there were:
2 Airport Fire tenders
3 Ambulances (well, an airport minibus was one of them)
2 normal Fire tenders
2 Coastguard vehicles with an Air Shelter for triage of casualties before they went off to the casualty centre.
1 Police vehicle as the forward control point and a number of other airport Ops vehicles.
