The only problem with VWP, my last box of goodies cost over "100 and I only started looking at crimping terminals.

Isn't there a decent (independant) auto-electrician near you?


Alternatively a welding suppliers?
I made some 5metre jump-leads up with 400amp(?) welding-cable.
You could jump start the QE2 with them & they're damn bl**dy heavy to go with it

VWP are excellent, but limit yourself too what you want otherwise you'll spend alot more  :wink:

You want HOFR Welding flexible 0361TQ, probably 25mm²

Either that or any other reasonable electrical wholesaler - may turn out to be a little cheaper than VWP but you'll probably only end up saving on the postage charges  :wink:

BTM - those jump leads are huuuuge....i need some new ones cos the ones in the 110 at the moment are weedy little things i nicked out of mums car....dont think theyd actually start a V8  :shock:

How much did they cost you to put together?

Even worse when you live down the road, so tempting to go there

I have to go onto the trading estate to where my mate sends his truck for maintenance, have to keep digging the blinkers out and go round the access road the other way so i dont go past the unit :cry:

I need shares in VWP.
It is good stuff though.
Not just for electrics. They do a nice line in windscreen washers along with various kit to make a variable throttle for when using a winch.

All good stuff. It's worth getting a catalogue sent out.

How much did they cost you to put together?

Thanks, they're 5metres long (I think, can't exactly remember) & I weighed them this morning on the baby scales in the department.
Twelve pounds :shock:

I think the cable probably cost at least £1.50 a metre, & as stated is 400amp - maybe more? (& that's a continuous rating)

Clips were perhaps £5:00 for 4, plus some decent nuts, washers & bolts to clamp it all together

The only disadvantage is the weight, I have an overwhelming fear that they'll drag off the battery & arc out.
With that in mind, I've got a 2, or maybe,3 new sets of (large sized) Anderson Plugs & may make a 'Pig-tail' to be permanantly connected.
I'll ask the father-in-law to get one of the sparkies at the bus depot to crimp them

I think the Lucas dealer in Sheffield makes (or made) cables to lenght and crimped the terminals on for a small fee.  Not such a candie store as VWP either.

cheapest way ,go to your local car breakers there are plenty of battery leads and cables they are easy to get out as most engines removed ,and plenty of choice for pennies
