A socket just smaller in diameter than the bush and a good strong bench vice.

Fitting polybushes is easy, just push them in by hand.  To remove the originals you could burn out the rubber using a blowlamp then cut the steel outer of the bush with a hacksaw intil it falls out.  If you don't want to burn rubber so to speak you could also drill through it with a very sharp drill bit, perhaps one meant for wood.  You will need to drill close to the steel outer though as sawing through rubber takes forever.

Actually if you burn them out I'd advse you don't tough them or let the doags walk on the bits that fall out, just in case.

I'm one of the lucky ones, I have access to a hydraulic press, lot less hassle

Do you have any freindly garages nearby? The easiest thing if you have a second car is to take them to a garage and give them a few quid just to push them out. It won't cost much and saves a hell of a lot of work.

Thats what I do, but when I get there he says do it yourself, then I finish up helping out for a couple of hours or going out to recover a breakdown, while one of the lads does the pressing

In a way but not bothered he's an old friend, so I enjoy hanging around down there if he's busy, Also if I get stuck he'll let me use the ramps if needed

Just a word of warning, I recently found out that a 10 ton press was NOT enough to remove my old radius arm and panhard rod bushes. Had to use the old burn and cut process in the end. New ones popped in nice and easy with the press though :-)
