A friend took me mountain biking on Saturday up to Sherwood Pines. Lots of fun I thought. The pedal version of laning really. Unfortunately, laning does not make you fit. In fact I proved to be the unfittest I have ever been...20 minutes into the ride I had stop and puke up behind a tree  I need some practice

Yep, given time you'll be puking with the best!
Glad you enjoyed it!

riding all day in the hot sun without no drink makes u sick
i must stop spending all my money :(
-
best bit is to use your bike as a recon vehicle for green lanes, that way you get the best of both worlds!
-
theres just as many bits to stick on a mountain bike as a lany
-
Wait until they con you into entering your first race
I thought I was fit, with all the miles I did at that time, until I raced
(Post Hill at Leeds)
I did finish though, and over half-way up the field.
Best result was at a race at Lightw@ter Valley (Ripon), over probably 18-20miles?? (BIG laps)
I think I was something like 12th out of over 190 starters.
Sadly about 6minutes behind the winner (had cramp & had to stop for a few minutes), but over 2hours ahead of the back-markers.
Of course I was a lot younger then

Very good idea that.

Sherwood Pines is awsome! Its a little while since I've been there but theres loads to keep you amused for a fair old while, some of the harder stuff is a bit of a killer but what the hell, I gave it a go anywho!!!

woburn trails are gr8 they have everything there u can jump, downhill and even cross-country :D
-
I could very easily get into mountain biking, only you (I) could easily spend alot of money that way.
Fortunately I don't have a lot of money to spend - unless I give up the racing! And I'm not about to do that!

You joke, but I've always thought that a combined 'triathlon' style event would be good fun. Something like - 4x4 orienteering, bike orienteering, canoe?!
You could do it somewhere like Seven Sisters.
Of course you would have to carry the canoe and the bikes on the 4x4!

Bar the climbing that’s just Land Rovers G4 idea.
Maybe a local version called for any brand would be good.

I think you could be talking yourself into a another job!
I'd hoped I'd grown out of doing that! I just don't have any more spare time...
It could make a really good Mud-Club event if we got it right, I wonder if there would be much interest?
Glad you enjoyed Driffield!
