You don't write Haynes manuals by chance, do you
So, how do I actually get them out? Lever underneath the rivit head with a screwdriver? Underneath the plastic trim? I assume they don't screw out?

Look closely and you will see there is a plastic "pin" in the centre - using some needle nosed pliers, simply pull out the pin and the plastic rivet will come out. Fitting is the reverse....

OMG
I finally managed to get the thing off .. only to find 4 inches (no kidding!) of mud/sand in the bit between the arch and door!!
Is there supposed to be some sort of drain hole / gap? Or are these liners a bad idea?
-
You are supposed to clean them ;-)
Don't remove it - as you will soon discover just why it there - Piglet lost one of his and the end result was offroading in deep mud ripped the wing off at the bottom - the bit the liner was protecting!!
