I drove past 3 petrol stations this afternoon and not one of them had a queue off the forecourt - one was completely empty (and yes, it was open  ).
-
An article on the BBC news website this morning suggested that tehy were going to impose a 'minimum purchase' to stop people queuing who didn't really need fuel.
Rationing under another name maybe?
-
I wonder if anyone will be filling a wheelie bin this time  ?
-
Minimum purchase?
Mine takes £90 a time at least....and I will only fill up when it needs that much...am I to start having to QUEUE for £20 of which half will be lost QUEUING???? HELLO?
Idiots.
-
Sainsbury's on the Wyvern in Derby was stupid as well - people couldn't get into the retail park from that end because of the queuing!
It doesn't help that most garages in the area are charging 97.9 - 99.9 for diesel, and Sainsbury's have been selling theirs at 95.9 a litre. However, the price differential's been there for ages!
I understand that there'll be "go slow" on the motorways. All I can say is "Bring It On". If they can keep the M1 moving in the mornings at anything above the normal 30-40mph I'm up for that! Perhaps we'll end up with sensible variable speed limits if the "trial" works
I guess I'm a bit smug at the moment (although not by choice). Since the 90 was nicked, I've been driving the golf all the time - 55mpg makes a big difference to the number of miles per tankful - around 550 instead of the 200 I could squeeze out of the 90!
Cheers
Ben

Last time I topped up my quad, it took £2.63. Will I have to take my Gerry Can next time, and buy more than I actually need?
-
This action has been threatened for weeks. Why do these idiots insist on panic buying at the last minute :?
I filled Charity up at the weekend and parked her up. Decided to give the MTB a bit more use and loving every minute
-
Hmmm...I get 500 miles to a tank ;-) and that's a 4.4 V8
-
I've heard that this will only last for 3 days - which if so means that most people out there don't need to panic anyway.
When I normally fill up, I fill it completely which is more like 3 weeks worth than 3 days, so I wouldn't panic myself (except I'm nearly out in both my vehicles!).
Queues are growing round here too, unfortunately like it or not, I'm going to be forced to join one.
-
I filled mine yesterday, and I shall have to fill it again on Wednesday, and on Saturday, etc.
-
Three stations on my way home and ALL had a big queue outside.
I wonder what the government will do this time with all this new ant freedom legislation.

My tank is so small I only get about 200-250 miles every time I fill up. If it lasts longer than three days i wont be able to get to work :)
-
Mine needed it anyway, as I poured about £65.00 into it

Why of all days did I decide "TODAY" to change my 300Tdi Disco for a V8ES
Came with about 1 litre of fuel
Think I'll park it up for a day or two as the 2 filling stations I tried had que's resembling the M1 on a Monday morning
Dave

I'd quite happily swap my TDi (http://forums.mud-club.com/viewtopic.php?t=11572&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0) for a V8 just at the moment

I wish peeps would calm down a bit I drive from Northampton to Abingdon Daily 550 miles a week I was running on empty and after 6 garages this morning in Northampton I found one with diesel
I am self employed No fuel = no pay
Have you ever seen a government back down Not a lot of chance there, after all OPEC have a lot to do with it Okay we pay a lot of tax But we vote for the government remember………
-
The UK has gone mad again, while driving back from Somerset yesterday I noticed long queues at all the fuel stations I passed, amazing!!! Now there will be shortage, if people just went about there daily stuff and filled when required as normal there wouldn't be a shortage.
-
Totally agree with you Phil
I need fuel twice a week as a tankfull won't last the full week (need a splash in to make it on a friday) but with the queues it has a knock on effect ....................
-
The reporter on the BBC news last night said that everything was OK before the press started reports of panic buying yesterday and then everybody started panic buying
They also reported that one of the government's contingency measures is to limit the amount of fuel you can take at the pumps so by panic buying now, these people have potentially made it worse for the rest of us.
If everyone would just go about their business as normal then I'm sure there wouldn't be an issue, even with 3 days of blockades.

My engine fell to bit's sunday so no q's for me :?
Ummmm is that good or bad
-
Filled up the Van today after a bit of a que, was about on empty so had no choice.
The young lass in front of me managed to fit just over 3 litres into her Peugot 106. :(bigangry):
Obviously in dire need of fuel then :(mad):
Fuel shortage seems to be created by normally half empty tanks having to be filled up  ..............just in case :(scared):
:(thinkhard):
Grrrrrrrrrr
Oh well, will hopefully have a run out in the Disco next week 8)
