Hi,
after buying a cb at peterborough at the weekend - and putting the aerial on the roo bar, i am now going to mount it onthe spare wheel. how do you get your cable into the car without cutting a hole into the back door.

without a hole you'll have to run it to the hinged side of the door and run it under the door seal. from there, under the carpet to the cb.

Or under the bumper and back up via the rear lights. That panel is actually exposed underneath.
I just sit mine on the rear bumper and take it in via the door. It doesn't get crushed too badly. When laning you're only (usually) talking to a vehicle less than 100m beind or in front of you so having it low down isn't critical alough it can affect the SWR.

you can run it under the bumper as wanderer said and you also have the choice of running it through one of the body mount caps. Where the body mounts to the chasis there is a rubber cap just above to allow you to undue the nut, run it through there putting a hole in the cap with a blob of silicone around to seal. Either way you want to run it to the hinge side for obvious reasons.

hehe :)
Ive just done my cable run today :D
Ela knows mines already mounted on the carrier, with the wheel removed I drilled a small hole through the door, painted, grommited and siliconed the cable through to provide a good water tight seal. I followed this idea from a article I was reading on a site Im not sure but I think the Disco II has a rear washer pipe already going through the door ?
Then ran through the car at roof level into the map pocket above the driver to the freshly mounted radio :)
You'll also be pleased to know got the roof lights wired up today also and then discovered that the rear worklights had 24v bulbs in them GRGRGRGR!
