It looks like an old RAF air field radar/watch tower??
-
As for the vehicle you can take your pick, they were all "utility" bodies at that sort of time, could be a Dodge, Bedford, Commer etc.
-
where did the picture come from?
-
Military air traffic control caravan, normally parked near the end of the runway where they can check aircraft for problems prior to take off.
RAF ones normally on Bedford or Commer base.
-
The cable drum on the back and the aerials suggest a proper radio body, but as said previously it could be any vehicle. Morris and Chevrolet are other possibilities. The website says something about a radio vehicle, and is says the clear dome on the top is from a B17.
Interesting picture.

Surely one for BTM :!:
-
Cable drum would be for the darn 10, twin core phone cable, for a hard wired phone back to the main tower or control room
-
Surely one for BTM :!:
I'd tend to agree with 'Range Rover Blues'

How about this (http://www.maximog.com/) as a 4x4 caravan?
It's a bit more modern
