Hi everyone I hope someone out there can help me, I have a 300 TDI Commercial and have just returned from our main dealer after having tests carried out to determine that the alarm and immobiliser are working for insurance purposes, before going everything was fine , now I cant set the alarm (it bleeps twice to tell me its not set properly),also the interior light stays on and if it does go out comes back on whilst I am driving along and finally the fuel guage stays up even when the key is out of the ignition. I am lost I hope someone can help me :?

I only took it to the main dealer because my insurance company said I needed to get confirmation that both the alarm and imobilser worked, or they would not be able to cover me for theft. I explained this when I booked it in but when I picked the vehicle up they would not write a word concerning this , they would only give me the printouts saying that no faults showed up so I will be on there door step tomorrow morning where I hope this can also be sorted. When Tim my brother got his RR he had to get the same confirmation for his insurance and the dealer that he went to had no problem writing down the facts for his insurance company, so I thought all dealerships would be the same. :?

NOt much up on this, but sounds like the test has reset something, or turned something off, should be an interesting conversation tomorrow with them

FWIW
It's worth asking the question of the insurance companies as to who is allowed to vouch for the alarm being in working order.
I understood it to be a main stealer but they said any alarm company or VAT registered LR repairer.
I got mine done at a fraction of the cost.

When my brother got his RR tested the main Stealer(I like that phrase) took £88.00 plus VAT , when I booked mine in I used the Aylesbury Land Rover Fanatics discount scheme and was charged £45.00 plus VAT ,so I am not feeling ripped off at all just worried that its not right , but hopefully tomorrow morning that will all be sorted 8)

Mine does that all the time anyway, I think it's supposed to, are you sure yours didn't before?
If it didn't then it was probably playing up, and they have managed to fix it for you - as it was a main STealer don't tell htem or they will invoice you. :lol:

I was told that the gauges are supposed to stay up , I thought they cut out when you took the keys out as they do in my RR and my Series 2a, so my mistake there :oops: . They were very unundderstanding over my other problems saying that they were not resposible and I would have to rebook it in to have them rectified as a seperate job.After insisting that I speak to the manager and explaining to him why I wanted the alarm tested in the first place he did write on the invoice to say that the alarm was working to Land Rover Spec. Well I won't be going back to them again. I have since spoken to our local Land Rover Specialist and they were very helpful and therefore I have booked it in with them to have the problem resolved , their rates are half the full dealership rates and cheaper than I can get using the ALRFC discounts

using the ALRFC discounts
Glad to hear it's all going to get sorted (and cheaper!), but excuse me for being stupid - what is a ALRFC discount?
:oops:

The Aylesbury Land Rover Fanatics Club are sponsored by the Land Rover dealership in Aylesbury and they give our members very good discounts 8)

"Discount" is one of my favourite words :lol:

Well after my visit to our local Land Rover Specialist (Thame Land Rover) the problem was quickly sorted , they found the market programme to be wrong and once reset the interior light and alarm are now working as they should . On speaking to the manager he confirmed that you can only change these settings with the T4 computer so it could only have happened at the main dealers whilst they were testing the alarm . I have written a letter and hope to be reclaiming the cost of going to Thame Land Rover from the main dealership, Thame also said that this is a common problem as they seem to get quite a few problems like mine from disguntled customers comming from main dealers , needless to say I will now take my custom to T L R in the future :D
