This is probably a stupid question:
What is the bit sticking out of the front wheel(s), looks a bit like a hub or drum?

Tim,
It's a step - neat design :-)

Thanks,
I wouldn't have considered that from the photo, it looks too round, by which I mean it looks like you would slip off.
I suspect in 'real-'life' the wheels are huge and so are these steps so although they are curved you can get a good grip.

In this months LRO they are showing a restored Forward Control Ambulance - I think it is the prototype one - it is (now) in superb nick, it looks great and has absolutely loads of space for kit in the back.......
Maybe I should add one of these to my wish list?

I had a nice ambulance 101 back in the early 80s, drove it for a year and a half all over Uk and Germany, but they wouldn't let me keep it when I left the army

Its got a pattern cut into it to stop you slipping.
As said, neat design

Ohhhh yeeess! That is a definate 'park anywhere you like' vehicle. Notice how the cars next to it leave *lots* of space

or how about a mini 101

Well, why not. You could get a factory built 62" wheelbase UniMog (http://community.webshots.com/photo/383674186/383710777jilqTW)
